Join Hands Against Drugs; Operation Thoofan 2.0
Panchayat-Level Inauguration
As part of strengthening the people’s collective resistance against drug abuse, Cherukavu Grama Panchayat organized various programmes under the state-level initiative “Operation Thoofan 2.0.”
As part of the programme held at the Panchayat Office, various activities including the hoisting of the Thoofan flag, Thoofan pledge, awareness session, message, and badge-wearing ceremony were conducted. The programme aimed to strengthen collective community action to prevent the spread and use of drugs and to protect the younger generation from the dangers of substance abuse.
The programme was inaugurated by Grama Panchayat President Smt. Jaseena Alungal. Vice President Smt. Sujatha Kalathingal presided over the function. Development Standing Committee Chairperson Smt. Maimoona Basheer, Welfare Standing Committee Chairman Shri P. V. Kunjalankutty, Health Standing Committee Chairperson Smt. Mini Sahini, Grama Panchayat members, the Secretary, Assistant Secretary, and Panchayat employees participated in the programme. All 22 ward representatives wore badges as Thoofan Warriors.
The programme highlighted the need to expand the fight against drug abuse beyond legal measures and extend preventive and awareness activities to homes, educational institutions, and all levels of society. An awareness session was also conducted on the harmful effects of drug abuse, the threats faced by the younger generation, and the responsibility of the general public in preventing substance abuse.
A pledge to strengthen anti-drug activities with active public participation was also taken at the function, raising the message:
“One Nation, One Mind Against Drugs.”
